Mentor Me

One hour a week can change a young life.

Mentor Me matches young people in grades K to 12 with caring adult volunteers who meet once a week for at least two years.

How it works

Show up, and the rest follows.

Most of mentoring is simply showing up. Mentors and mentees talk, play board games, make art, take walks and make snacks together.

Once a week

Meet your mentee for one hour each week.

Two years

Commit to a two-year match so trust has time to grow.

Close to home

Meet at your mentee’s school or the Mentor Me Cavanagh Recreation Center.

Why it matters

Every young person deserves someone in their corner.

Quality mentoring has positive effects on personal, academic and professional outcomes, and mentoring across generations and cultures makes our whole community stronger. One in three young people will grow up without this kind of support.

Mentor Lynn Camhi watched her mentee, Leslie Mejia, graduate from UC Berkeley.

“The healthier relationships a child has, the more likely he will be to recover from trauma and thrive.” Dr. Bruce Perry
